
| Here you will find a list of a few of the more common types of entities and their definitions. It is merely presented as a brief glossary and is not by any means comprehensive, neither in the list itself, nor by the extent of the definitions. | ||

Residual Hauntings - The occupation in buildings by spirits of deceased people who may or may not have lived there. This usually occurs in places where violent deaths have occurred. | |
| Poltergeist Outbreaks - These cases commonly exhibit instances of objects moving about by themselves with no apparent means of locomotion, a phenomenon known as Recurrent Spontaneous Psycho-Kinesis. These cases often center around a youth, most often a girl, who is undergoing traumatic or hormonal changes, and who is thought to be the cause of the phenomena. | ||
| Autoscopy - Instances where a double of a person is seen at the same time, in different locations. This would include, doppelgangers, wraiths, bi-location, and the fetch. | ||
| Phantom Hitchhikers - Beings seen on the side of the road at night who either are hit and disappear, or are picked up, spoken to and later vanish. They are thought to act as a warning to drivers of ill road conditions. | ||
| Will - O - the - Wisps - Often seen over swamps and marshes, they are non descript shapes of amorphous gaseous light. Usually explained as optical illusions. | ||
| Incubi and Succubi - Demons from medieval folklore of a highly desirable sexual nature who seduce unwary sleeping victims into copulating with them. The incubus is of the male variety, while the succubus is of the female. | ||
| Phantom Scenery or Time Slips - Instances in which a witness finds before them a scene that seems to be out of time, like a regiment of Ancient Roman soldiers marching by. It is thought to be a mass apparition, or a window into another time. | ||
| Orbs - This is a common phenomena in ghost photography where circles of white or transparent light are seen in the picture. Often explained as raindrops on the lens, snowflakes, or lens flares. | ||
| Vortices - Streams of white light that appear in a photo as seeming to be a band of energy. These are often times attributed to camera straps being held closely in front of a camera lens. | ||
| Ectoplasm - An antiquated term used by mediums during the Spiritualist Movement to describe matter which would ooze out of a medium's orifices during a séance. In modern times, investigators have used this term to describe the wispy cloud like formations that appear on some photographs. | ||
| Shadow
People - A relatively new
phenomena where entities of shadow appear in humanoid silhouettes.
Can sometimes appear as black blobs, or columns of black smoke.
